Our client, an established leader in the plumbware wholesale and distribution sector, is looking for a dynamic, energetic and commercially astute Procurement Manager to join their fast-paced and growing business. This opportunity is ideally suited to a high-performing procurement professional who thrives in a demanding environment, has extensive experience within the plumbing, sanitaryware, hardware or building materials industry and enjoys building strong international supplier relationships.
This is a non-negotiable requirement: Applicants must have proven experience sourcing products from China, India and other international markets and must be willing to travel internationally for supplier visits, factory audits and trade shows.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, Business Administration or a related field
Minimum of 5 years' procurement management experience within the plumbing, sanitaryware, hardware, building materials or wholesale distribution industry
Proven experience sourcing products from China, India and other international markets
Strong knowledge of international procurement, import/export procedures, Incoterms and customs documentation
Experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting and landed cost management
Strong commercial negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience
Proficiency in ERP systems (SYSPRO advantageous) and Microsoft Excel
Willing and able to travel internationally for supplier visits, factory audits and trade shows
Key Responsibilities
Source and negotiate with local and international suppliers, with a strong focus on China, India and other overseas markets
Develop and expand the company's own-brand product range
Identify new products and market opportunities through research, supplier engagement and international travel
Manage supplier performance, quality standards and compliance requirements
Oversee inventory planning, forecasting and procurement to ensure stock availability
Manage landed costs, import logistics, shipping schedules and customs compliance
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving cost savings and margin improvement
Lead and develop the buying function, including mentoring the Junior Buyer
Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Quality Control to ensure the product offering meets market demand
