    Procurement Specialist

    Direct Procurement categories tend to be complex with varying stakeholders needs, significant spend of  US$20 million (FY 17 Actuals) key internal and external relationships.  This role will drive value through ensuring the spend is assigned and executed with global vendors and including executive levels within the organisation.  This role will lead some sourcing decisions with key stakeholders and will apply elements of category management to support the maximisation of value whilst minimising risk form all external spend and assuring quality, on time delivery and performance. 

    Major/Key Accountabilities :

    • Support SSA Procurement Manager and Global Category Managers in the creation and execution of all strategic plans
    • Will challenge status quo and bring some game changing ideas to the team
    • Responsible for the sustainable sourcing for allocated categories and commodities
    • Identify and manage market / price risk for commodities and materials
    • Own selected supplier relationships
    • Lead Direct sourcing projects and contribute to total cost ownership objectives.
    • Leverages market knowledge and shares with Procurement Manager SSA
    • Manage RFx’s process, supplier selection and award notification
    • Market research, qualification and on-boarding of new suppliers.
    • Establish & maintain risk management for assigned categories and suppliers ensuring continuity of supply
    • Identify, analyse and execute in conjunction with the approval from line manager regarding cost savings opportunities
    • Manage supplier agreements related to service and performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
    • Manage special projects
    • Ensure financial accuracy of project benefits including cost savings, cost avoidance and value creation
    • Facilitate and manage the supplier sourcing process with cross functional sourcing teams
    • Sourcing of new products and manage roll out to customers with sales team.
    • Consolidate AIME Timber regional requirements to enable optimal use of the Weatherboard capacity and be the single point of contact with Weatherboard for AIME.

    Measures :

    • SSA cost saving delivery in line with annual plans and business targets
    • Timeous feedback and accurate delivery of high quality work.
    • Directs costs published Inflationary expectations and budget impacting on improved GM %.
    • Customer Satisfaction
    • Meeting or Exceeding Cost Saving Targets

    Challenges :

    • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, including managing priorities and timelines
    • Working autonomously with limited supervision and multiple stakeholders.
    • Developing internal stakeholder relationships and managing expectations with resources.
    • Achieving outcomes with professionalism, a sense of urgency, effective stakeholder management, leverage of experience and use of commercial acumen.
    • Possible Travel 
    • Working across time zones and cultures

    Qualifications :

    • Procurement tertiary qualification (CIPS / similar) (preferable)
    • Other qualifications considered:-
    • Finance qualification (B.Comm / CIS / CIMA)
    • Supply Chain qualification (NQF 6 Dip. SCM / similar)
    • Engineering qualification (B. Eng / N. Dip. Eng.)

    Experience :

    • 5 year’s + experience in a procurement or Supply Chain Operational Capacity,
    • Experience in negotiating across a range of external and internal stakeholders
    • Proven project management experience
    • Professional procurement expertise based on depth of experience and commercial acumen
    • Knowledge of trends and market dynamics for global commodities that influence pricing movements.

    Skills and Knowledge :

    • Ability to Lead and Work with cross functional teams
    • Strong communication and listening skills
    • Self-starter who is able to multi-task and ability to take projects to completion.
    • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, procurement concepts, processes, activities and trends.
    • Negotiation skills
    • Analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills
    • Project management and contract management skills including tenacity to deliver outcomes.
