About the job

• We are seeking a product designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the success of projects from inception to delivery. They are a key partner during the early stages of projects, actively collaborating with clients to define strategic outcomes, project goals, and deliverables. Leading the Discovery process, they facilitate workshops, conduct in-depth research, and engage stakeholders to uncover opportunities and validate ideas. We would like them to drive both the quality of design outcomes and the development of a culture of excellence, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Experience & Skillset

• 3-4 Years experience in a client-facing and stakeholder management role
• Proven track record of taking the lead on projects and running them autonomously
• A tertiary qualification would be advantageous

What you will do:

Product Design Workflow Management

• Lead and own the end-to-end product design lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and business objectives.
• Define and implement scalable design workflows and frameworks, establishing standards across teams and projects.
• Ensure adherence to cutting-edge research, industry best practices, and the latest trends in product design
• Ensure design outputs are aligned with business metrics, balancing innovation with practical deliverables.

Client Engagement & Project Planning

• Shape and communicate a holistic vision for product design within the context of client objectives and stakeholder needs.
• Lead strategic discussions with clients and executive stakeholders to align product design direction with business goals.
• Inform and manage client and stakeholder expectations throughout the design process
• Drive project planning at a portfolio level, ensuring resources, timelines, and goals are well-coordinated.

Problem/Opportunity Identification

• Define and oversee research strategies that guide critical design and business decisions.
• Collect, interpret and present insights to the client and product team.
• Conduct user research to identify problems, opportunities, features, product improvements & recommendations.
• Ensure specialised and expert domain knowledge is gained through competitor research, industry research and any other relevant secondary research
• Create customer/user journey maps to identify areas of improvement and communicate recommended enhancements to the client and product team (with suggestions for implementation) 

Wireframing & Prototyping

• Guide the team in creating impactful prototypes for complex features or multi-platform solutions, focusing on scalability and technical feasibility.
• Design and create branded client presentations, pitches & workshop tools (Figmjam, Canva, Visily etc)
• Establish design standards and mentor team members on adherence to ensure consistency across all outputs.

Information Architecture

• Define and implement information architecture strategies that align with both user needs and business goals
• Lead information architecture audits, providing recommendations to streamline and optimize the UX journey.

Workshop facilitation

• Ensure structured and intentional research in preparation for workshops
• Create frameworks and structures for workshops that enable meaningful discussions and uncover deep insights in virtual and in person sessions.
• Build relationships, trust, and open communication through workshop sessions
• Create Outputs / deliverables/ and consolidation of workshop insights
• Identify key outcomes to be achieved, analyse results and package insights that empower decision making

Product & User Validation 

• Define and lead validation frameworks for concept testing, ensuring alignment with broader product and business goals.
• Identify users, experts, stakeholders for concept validation tests & interviews
• Prioritise and plan large-scale concept validation studies, balancing timelines, resources, and project scope.
• Analyse and present concept validation findings and insights. 

Product Build Oversight

• Ensure constant strategic alignment with the product team.
• Work closely with Technical Product Owner/Product Manager to ensure product design as established in the Discovery & Design process is carried through into the technical build.
• Set and enforce UI/UX quality standards, ensuring alignment with the product vision throughout the build process.
• Regularly review technical builds to ensure design fidelity and advocate for the user experience during implementation challenges.
• Drive Product Strategy and vision related to the objectives of the project (short and long term), with the Product Team. 
• Define MVP scope and ensure all team members are aligned on key deliverables, risks, and constraints
• Present final prototypes & designs along with the UI Designer
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for design-related issues during the technical build and launch phases. Collaborate with UI for solutions.
