    Product Manager

    Job Purpose

    • To manage in a professional manner the relevant product category in terms of product range, life-cycle analysis, product performance, quality, market demand & innovation.

    Key responsibilities : 

    • Manage the product category offering in terms of market segmentation, range classification and rationalisation and sector approach to contribute to organisational growth.
    • To develop pricing strategies for the relevant product category with the goal of maximizing the organisation’s profits or share of the market while ensuring that our customers are satisfied.
    • Manage product margins in line with business strategy and grow the profitable product range.
    • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, and to differentiate and benchmark products.
    • Monitor product ratios within the product portfolio ensuring correct ratios of sales.
    • Integral understanding of customer requirements and position to innovate product range according and drive demand.
    • Provide input/challenge into the demand forecasting’s process for product range.
    • Developing a deep knowledge of the market, specifically how it related to the relevant product category, including follow-ups on volumes (in tons), value (in Rands), product mix and competition
    • Provide direction to the commercial team in the form of hunting grounds, market trends and market information including training
    • Conduct customer visits (onsite & instore) to gain insight on new trends, painpoints or opportunities for growth in product and/or service improvement
    • Coordinate or participate in promotional activities & trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, or other relevant team members, to market products or services.
    • Apply for necessary certifications and a set warranty system whenever required.
    • Follow the innovation process to successfully identify gaps and launch new offerings within the product range, contributing to the NDP rates and bottom line of the business.
    • All such duties and/or activities assigned by management/board as and when required.

    Qualifications required:

    • BCom, IMM or equivalent.
    • Business qualification would be advantageous

      Knowledge and Skills 

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience at middle management level
    • Input to strategy formulation, planning and execution.
    • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organisation.
    • Ability to manage several projects.
    • Ability to develop financial plans.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
    • Exceptional professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Risk management, finance, marketing and business acumen 
    • Able to work cross-functionally.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for launching, demonstrating, promoting, and marketing products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organisation, including production (plant level) and at Executive Level.
