Job Advert Summary    

• A vacancy exists for a Production Manager in the Production / Processing / Production Department at our Botshabelo Processing Plant. The successful candidate will be managing the operations of the department during their shift, ensuring efficiency, safety, adherence to standard operating procedures, and the motivation of staff.

Minimum Requirements    

• Production management qualification (degree or diploma) or equivalent
• 5-10 years relevant processing experience
• At least 5 years relevant management experience.
• Knowledge of ISO2200/ FSSC2200; occupational health and safety and compensation of occupational diseases acts.
• Adequate comprehension of applicable statutory standards applicable to the workplace environment and employees.
• Adequate mechanical acumen to safely operate processing machinery in the department.
• Adequate organizational and human relations skills.
• Basic technical acumen.
• Production process and people supervision acumen
• Business acumen

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Ensure that food safety and quality standards and practices are maintained.
• Set daily production targets in accordance with the overall production plan.
• Monitor and report performance on production target plan
• Implement corrective actions on any deviations on the plan.
• Ensure continuous production flow is maintained.
• Ensure the quality standard are met on all products by producing to specifications.
• Ensure compliance to health and safety.
• Execute emergency procedures when necessary
• Record and submit payroll input information.
• Monitor work attendance
• Manage employee leave programme.
• Managed planned maintenance with production manager and engineering personnel.
• Ensure effective communication within section.
• Ensure proper internal communication always exists between various sections and departments.
• Maintain good employee relationships.
• Maintain discipline in the section.
• Lasie with other departments and senior management.
• Ensure that food safety and quality standards and practices are maintained.
• Product Specifications- Ensuring that the product is packed according to the relevant product specification.
• Ensure that food safety and quality standards and practices are maintained.
• Adequate management skills of workplace discipline
• Ability to utilize assigned resources to achieve production targets.
• Specific job skills standards as contained in the food safety and quality system.
• Food Processing Hygiene standards as contained in the Food Safety and Quality System.
• Health and Safety requirements as required by statutory occupational health standards.
• Statutory, Site-specific environmental standards.
• The position is multi-discipline in nature and requires a versatile individual who possess the capacity to work under pressure.
