Production Manager at Pump & Abrasion Technologies

ROLE PURPOSE:

• Leading the production operational team at Head Office, giving stakeholders a targeted return on investment.
• Development and manufacturing of products and solutions to all internal and external customers.
• Respond, attend, and resolve all customer requirements and expectations.
• Manage people and processes to achieve outputs as per KPI.

SCOPE/SPAN OF CONTROL

• To report directly to the Operations HOD.
• Roles who would report directly to the Production Manager are: Painting Foreman, Bearing Assembly and Recon Foreman, Night Shift Assistant Foreman and Production/General foreman.
• Makes final decisions for functional areas within PABT framework of authority.
• Escalate judgement on escalation decisions.
• Internal communication at all levels up to GM level and maintain good inter department relationships.
• Maintain very close interactions with suppliers and service providers and interact with customers at levels in functional area of responsibility.

KEY FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Pump assembly and control.
• Safety and ISO Quality Management.
• Repairs Management.
• Logistics Management.
• Ensure a safe environment for workers.
• Motivate workers to be productive.
• Assess tasks to be carried out.
• Manage the shipping, cleaning, and assessment of customer pumps.
• Keep admin up to date and daily, weekly, and monthly reports to Operations HOD.
• Ensure contractors are on schedule.
• Support sales management with timeous deliveries. Notify sales of any delay.
• Update internal operating system timeously.
• Attend to maintenance issues at Pump and Abrasion Technologies as requested.
• Lead and manage labour hour costing, labour price list control, manage and control of labour hours, productive targets, factory cost controlled, budget forecasting, WIP and Labour forecast and planning, quality control, achieve set KPIs, safe and efficient operations.
• Skills development: resource planning, balance scorecards, General HR skill, healthy team environment and employee development.
• New methods of manufacturing.

KEY COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Administration and report writing experience.
• Computer literate with the following but not limited to Microsoft package.
• Must be familiar with sales targets.
• Ability to successfully manage tight deadlines and multitask.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Professional appearance and grooming are essential.
• Knowledge of Occupation Health and Safety Act and Efficient. Operations Act.
• People management and organizational skills

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Grade 12.
• Qualified Artisan or related qualification in business / operations Management.
• 5-10 years’ experience as a production foreman (product or industry specific experience).
• Must have Operations experience in the Mining or Engineering Industry
