Professional Nurse: General – 18 posts (5-month contract) at Eastern Cape Department: Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism

Salary:

• Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
• Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
• Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
• Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).

Requirements:

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Proof of current registration with SANC.

Experience:

• Grade 1: No experience required.
• Grade 2: A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 3: A minimum of twenty (20) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.

Duties:

• Execute nursing duties and functions proficiently within the prescripts of applicable legislation, policies, and departmental standards.
• Provide and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Monitor patient activities and perform standard nursing procedures in accordance with institutional policies and professional guidelines.
• Apply a multidisciplinary approach to promote holistic patient and client care.
• Maintain clinical competence through the application of scientific nursing principles and evidence-based practices.
• Ensure accurate and complete patient records are maintained and updated at all times.
• Enhance client satisfaction through quality service delivery, professionalism, and adherence to the Batho Pele principles and Patient Rights Charter.
• Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources within the unit.
• Render quality nursing care and assume management responsibilities of the unit in the absence of the Operational Manager.
• Evaluate staff performance in accordance with the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
• Motivate, coach, and mentor nursing staff to ensure continuous professional growth and improved service delivery.
• Manage and control scheduled drugs in line with legal and institutional requirements.
• Be available for day and night duties as operationally required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor to support healthcare service delivery.
