Professional Nurse General Grade 1-3 at Free State Department of Health

Requirements:

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• OR - A 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• OR - A 3-year Diploma in General Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse or General Nurse. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nursing.

Experience:

• Grade 1: None after registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Current registration with SANC (2026/2027). Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse for 2026.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to function with multidisciplinary team. Knowledge and understanding of National Core Standards and Ideal Clinic realization program. Strong management and leadership skills. Computer literacy.

Duties:

• To ensure a comprehensive nursing treatment and care services in delivered to patients in a cost effective and equitable manner. Ensure compliance to professional and ethical practice.
• Coordination of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care provided within set standards and professional/ legal framework. Provision of effective training and research. Maintain professional growth/legal standards and self-development. Manage effectively the utilization and supervision.
• Provide holistic nursing care patients in a specialty unit, in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner. Ensure compliance to National Core Standards and ten-point plan. Management of assets. Identify, manage and control risks. Data management and report writing.
