    Professional Nurse (Level 4)

    The role:

    This role will be shared between New Largo Colliery and Phola Plant to ensure that Contractor Mining aligns to Seriti health standards and processes and in accordance with relevant legislation when managing occupational health risks. This will require daily traveling between Phola Plant and New Largo Operations.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Set up and managed clinic facilities at the Contractor Mining Operations to ensure effective and efficient management of:
      • medical surveillance activities at Seriti Clinics
      • employees with chronic conditions
      • employee with ill health and or injuries
    • Ensure effective communication between Seriti Central Health and Management of Contractor Operations
    • Provide quality customer service delivery within the occupational health service
    • Provide input into the development of goals for the health service consistent with the goals of the organization
    • Provide data for compilation of reports and statistics to ensure the effectiveness of control measures implemented as a result of continuous improvement and monitoring of employee health determination
    • Facilitate the health education induction programme in such a way to aim at more effective integration of employees back to work
    • Motivate for and facilitate wellness activities at the Operations
    • Drive business health deliverables
    • Provide input into development and successful implementation of policies and procedures within occupational health centre
    • Coaching and mentoring of staff
    • Ensure that all health data are organised, verified and reported on the Health Information Management system
    • Assist to compiles and submit in time accurate monthly, 6 monthly and annual reports on health data.
    • Keeps employee electronic/physical medical records confidential
    • Report key indicators to the OMP and Management
    • Comply to legislative and company reporting requirements
    • Perform statistical analysis on the data to determine any illness trends and present to management
    • Assist with the development of the budget for the relevant Operation in order to attain the goals and Monitor and operate within the budget

    You will need:

    • National Diploma/Degree in General Nursing (NQF Level 7)
    • Post Graduate Diploma/BTech Occupational Health Nursing Science
    • Current registration and in good standing with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Post Basic Occupational Health Nursing Science
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Occupational Health in the Mining Industry
    • Shall be trained in audiometry, spirometry, vision screening and multi-drug testing
    • Shall be in possession of a dispensing license
    • Experience in COID Act reporting and administration

    In depth understanding of relevant medical legislation including:

    • The Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Health Act
    • Compensation of Occupational Diseases Act
    • Occupational Disease in Mines and Works Act
    • Nursing Act
    • Medicine and Related Substance Act
    • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver favourable outcomes
    • Ability to manage contractors on-site to deliver favourable outcomes
    • Excellent understanding of Health Legislative requirement
    • Demonstrable drive for results
    • Proven ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguity
    • Ability to communicate effectively and passionately at all levels
    • The ability to challenge, motivate, inspire and influence at all levels to achieve desired Health outcomes
    • Ability to present interpret, analyse and report on health data
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
    • Valid Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
    • In possession of or able to obtain a certificate of fitness
