The University of Venda is a South African comprehensive rural-based institution, located in Thohoyandou in Limpopo province. It was established in 1982 under the then Republic of Venda government.
PhD in Physics or equivalent coupled with at least ten (10) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or seven (7) years professional experience.
The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least fifteen (15) publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals / book publications / chapters in books.
Candidate should provide evidence of supervision of four Master’s or PhD students to completion.
Associate Professor:
PhD in Physics or equivalent coupled with at least ten (10) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or seven (7) years professional experience.
The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least ten (10) publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals/book publications / chapters in books.
Candidate should provide evidence of supervision of four Master’s or PhD students to completion.
Senior Lecturer:
PhD in Physics or equivalent coupled with at least five (5) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or seven (7) years professional experience.
The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least five (5) publications in accredited, peer-reviewed journals / book publications / chapters in books.
Duties:
Teaching and mentoring
Compilation of teaching portfolio (e.g. teaching outcomes, teaching methodology and assessment of students)
Curriculum development and review
Application of appropriate teaching approach/methods and rationale
Resource mobilization, research capacitation and Manuscript writing
Attendance of conference proceedings
Supervision of postgraduate projects
Participation in community-based projects
Resource mobilization for community projects
Participate in Senate and Senate Committees.
Development of new programmes
Review of programmes
Prepare and propose budgets
Plan and conduct departmental meetings
Manage departmental resources (finance, facilities, equipment and staff)
Assure the maintenance of accurate departmental records
