Project and Service Engineer at Valmet

• As a Project and Service Engineer, you will be responsible for managing local customer projects and service agreements. Also, you will support the sales and marketing of boiler services and retrofits; you will participate in boiler shutdown services; you will provide technical support to project sales process; and you will be involved in managing and coordinating site works and relevant contractors.
• This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. In this role, you will be located at the Valmet Durban office in South Africa.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordination and supervision of projects and service agreements
• Project cost calculations, follow-up, and reporting
• Project planning and schedules
• Procurement of project materials, sub-suppliers, and manpower
• Development and coordination of local contractor network
• Preparation of sales documentation and technical specification
• Supervision of service project deliveries and emergency repairs
• Preparation of mill visit and technical reports

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Technical background, preferably a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical / process / thermal engineering
• At least 3 years of experience from power plant engineering and project works
• Good experience from site supervision work
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Knowledge of an additional European language would be a plus
• Service-minded
• Excellent project management skills
• Capable of preparing technical reports and documentation
• Good knowledge of combustion and/or recovery boiler processes is considered a plus
• Ability to operate independently
• Team player with good interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel, mainly in South Africa but possibly now and then in Southern Europe (France, Spain and Portugal).
