Project Engineer at Valmet

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our team, who will be responsible for coordination and supervision of projects and service agreements. You’ll promote service and projects solutions that bring added value to our customers and maintain ongoing relationships to foresee future needs. You´ll support and promote the sales and marketing of boiler service and retrofits. You´ll also manage site works and relevant contractors.

You are responsible for supporting in projects supervision and coordination, project cost calculations, project planning, procurement of project materials, development and coordination of local contractor network, preparation of sales documentations and technical specification, supervision of service project deliveries and emergency repairs, preparation of mills visits and technical reports, on site supervision and participation to project execution. You will also be a communication link between Buyer’s and Supplier’s project delivery organizations. You will collaborate with the sales team and in projects cost efficiency control.

The position will be based in Durban, including travels within South Africa.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Technical background with a minimum of BEng degree or equivalent in mechanical / process / thermal engineering
• Minimum of 5-year experience from power plant engineering and project works
• Good experience from site supervision work
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Service-minded
• Excellent project management skills
• Capable to prepare technical reports and documentation
• Good knowledge of combustion and/or recovery boiler processes is considered as advantage
• Ability to operate independently
• Sales and commercial skills
• Outstanding communicative skills and ability for creating long-term relationships with the customer
• Fast-decision making ability  
• Proactiveness and flexibility
• Team player with good interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel
