Proposals Engineer (Design PV Facilities - Photovoltaic Plants and BESS ) Cape Town at MECS (Pty) Ltd

Job Description

• Experienced Engineer with photovoltaic plants and BESS, should have 5 years of working experience and at least 2 working on designing PV facilities.
• Electrical / Mechanical Engineer
• Minimum studies in Technical Engineering. Master's Degree in Renewable Energies is a plus.
• Minimum experience of 5 years as an Electrical Engineer in EERR projects (PV, BESS, Wind)
• Proficiency in AUTOCAD, PSSE, DIgSILENT, ETAP, PVSYST and PVcase.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Experience in:

• PV facilities.
• PVsyst is preferable
• South African grid code.

His/her roles would be:

• Designing and sizing, PV facilities and BESS projects.
• Solar resource analysis, PV performance ratio analysis of different projects.
• Complementary studies to integrate generation assets to the South African Grid.
• Complement the technical studies by liasing with main equipment suppliers, and help the proposal team with the costing of the project.

The selected person will be mainly responsible for:

• Design and dimensioning of renewable installation projects (photovoltaic plants and BESS)
• Studies of solar resources, performance of renewable plants and hybrid systems.
• Complementary studies in the integration of renewable energies in the electricity grid / Knowledge of grid codes applied to renewables.
• Simulations in PSSE and DigSilent
• Electrical calculations: Wiring, protections...
• Preparation of data sheets, technical specifications, tabulations, budgets, etc.
• Knowledge of the photovoltaic and electricity storage market, familiar with the different technologies of panels, inverters/power stations, solar trackers, batteries, PCS...
