You will be part of the Procurement Team who provide sustainable solutions for our customers based in Constantia Johannesburg. By joining this team, you will have a chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and challenges.

Role Purpose:

Secures purchasing activities for the Aftermarket/Service divisions, using selected suppliers to ensure product supply and profitability.

Your responsibilities

• Manages purchasing based on specifications and according to predefined procedures and processes to ensure delivery capability.
• Purchases products/items of expertise area at the right quality, characteristics and volume.
• Participates in the selection of suppliers by analysis and evaluation, and handles operational relations and interfaces with selected suppliers in order to build and maintain close relationships with suppliers.
• Monitors the operational performance of the selected suppliers in order to ensure that FLSmidth’s capacity to deliver is stable and long term.
• Coordinates between the different departments within FLSmidth to ensure timely procurement involvement and to ensure that all relevant information is available to Procurement. 
• Negotiates terms and conditions independently within the given framework.
• May prepare cost estimations based on analyses of past pricing trends as a basis for price setting.
• Compiles specific reports and performs calculations to support Procurement, Sales and Projects.
• Builds and maintains relationships with supplier in order to secure future delivery of products.
• Ensures the group sourcing strategy is understood within the business unit and follows up on whether objectives are met.

What you bring

• Bachelor of Science/National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) with 5 -10 years’ experience in an Engineering environment.
• CIPS Degree/qualification would be an advantage.
• Experience in a purchasing role.
• Solid commercial and financial understanding.
• Understanding of technical specification in purchase orders.
