To construct, install, repair, and maintain wooden structures and fixtures according to specifications and safety standards. The carpenter will work with a variety of materials and tools to ensure high-quality craftsmanship on construction and renovation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood and other materials.
Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, cabinets, stairs, and frameworks.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and building plans.
Inspect and repair damaged frameworks or structures.
Ensure that all work is completed according to building regulations and safety standards.
Use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and effectively.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Work with other construction professionals such as electricians, plumbers, and site supervisors.
Ensure the worksite remains clean and safe.
Estimate material requirements and ensure efficient use of materials.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 - Matric Certificate
Trade Certificate or qualification in Carpentry or Woodworking.
Proven experience as a carpenter in construction or maintenance environments.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
Good knowledge of carpentry techniques and building materials.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Valid driver’s licence (advantageous).
