Quality Control Supervisor - Pretoria West at RCL Foods

Job Description    

• RCL FOODS is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to oversee the routine analysis, testing and other handling of samples. While supervising QA Personnel on the shopfloor, providing required support to the operational team 

Minimum Requirements    

• MS Office proficient
• 4 years working in a Laboratory.
• Completed NDip/BTech in Food Technology or similar qualification.
• 2 year supervisory/Team Leader experience

Duties & Responsibilities 

Staff Supervision (team of 6 Chemistry LAB personnel)

• Coach, guide, mentor and monitor LAB technician adhere to their daily duties (Chemistry analysis, evaluation, monitoring CCP, shelf life, online inspections hygiene inspections etc.)
• Trouble shooting with LAB staff if there is noncompliant product and guide production.
• Schedule staff: by shift /weekends/ in cases of absenteeism
• Update Bestime & track and effective reporting of allowances.
• Train chemistry LAB Team on their duties and responsibilities and assess their competency. (keep records)
• Take necessary disciplinary action as and when required

Ensure that the Chemistry LAB runs efficiently

• Stock take on laboratory consumables – identify what is required
• Request quotation from suppliers and generate purchase order workflow
• Compile all the documents (Workflow, PO & invoice) required for receipting and submit
• Receive and allocate consumables and equipment at the LABs
• Ensure all chemistry LAB equipment is in working order and all equipment is calibrated at set/ required intervals.

Consumer SAP (Perform all listed QA SAP functions)

• Release stock (raw and packaging materials, block non-conforming stock and other)

Vector SAP (Perform all listed QA SAP functions)

• Process release of returns

Nonconformance Reports

• Drive corrective and preventative actions within quality department and including production and packaging department (troubleshooting, blending pots to achieve the set specification)

Raw materials and packaging supplier monitoring

• Ensure all COA’s are received at point of receiving and filed
• Raise NCR’s if against suppliers if non-conformances are noted at point of receiving or during storage or during processing.

Investigating customer complaints

• Trace production date information
• Analyse and taste retention samples
• Assess any foreign objects received/ pictures and check possibility of contamination

Supporting Production team

• Assist to monitor culture levels
• Brainstorm with production when there are challenges
• Conduct spot checks on completion of traceability documents
• Address any nonconformance’s with production team and assist with investigations
• Drive food safety culture on the floor.

Cleaning Inspections

• Ensure that CIP cycles as stipulated are adhered to
• Ensure deep cleaning is scheduled and done as per schedule and monitor to ensure efficient cleaning.
• Spot inspections in production, weighing, ablutions areas
• Ensure that LABS and retention chiller/ area are orderly.

Adhoc

• Assist with coordinating and ensuring success implementation of new processes, new procedures, new checklists, projects, etc.
• Participate during internal and external audits.
• Replace LAB staff as and when required.
