    Quality Risk Management - Assistant Manager

    Your key responsibilities

    • This is a supporting role reporting to the Africa SaT Quality Leader and SM which includes the development, implementation and monitoring of various Quality and Risk Management (QRM) related programmes and initiatives. The role will be a split role between QRM (60%) and chargeable work (40%).

    Skills and attributes for success
    Implement Quality Agenda

    • Manage existing Quality Management programmes
    • Point of contact for consultations for teams on PACE related matters, including Client and Engagement Acceptance consultations
    • Coordinate deal reviews
    • Independence/Conflict Management consultation jointly with Africa Central Risk Management and rest of QRM team.
    • Knowledge of QRM policies and procedures etc, in order to effectively respond to QRM consultations
    • In cases where the matter is complex, consult with QRM SM or SLQL. The consultation should include their assessment or conclusion of the matter.
    • Assistance with administrative QRM tasks and maintenance of databases and Sharepoint (where applicable)
    • Educate client-serving individuals across our Africa business on quality related matters and programmes, including regular Newsletters and alerts.
    • Act as a point of contact for client service personnel in resolving problems or issues for assigned practices (Consultation support)
    • Liaison with Africa Central Risk Management on risk and compliance related matters when appropriate.
    • Draft Practice Notes, policy and guidance when required.

    Monitor and Report on Quality: Risk and Policy Matters Programmes

    • Perform hot file reviews
    • Track implementation of actions arising out of programmes and consultations
    • Assisting with annual MARQ reporting

    Training

    • Interact with teams to identify training needs (non QRM and QRM)
    • Facilitate implementation of training in regions e.g. sorting out most suitable dates, names of trainees etc.
    • Assist with monthly new joiner training

    Ad hoc Project management

    • Assist with overall project management and planning for internal and client serving projects within the SaT team as required on an ad hoc basis.
    • Prioritize and project manage QRM workflow

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a professional services environment
    • Experience/understanding in Quality and Risk Management preferred
    • Good communication and organizational skill
    • Ability to determine the root cause for breakdowns in controls, processes and programmes, and to communicate these reasons clearly
    • Adept at using business knowledge to make recommendations, and suggest ways to improve or change risk management
    • Confident in identifying and raising concerns to leaders, regarding risks and exceptions
    • Good aptitude for solving complex issues in a balanced manner
    • Ability to execute to plan
    • Knowledgeable on how professional services firms operate
    • Experience in having worked in multiple African countries
    • Excellent software skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Strong leadership, presentation, and problem-solving skills
    • Comfortable with change
    • Skilled at handling multiple projects concurrently, and prioritizing appropriately
    • Ability to gain the respect of both the Leadership team and client-serving teams
    • Ability to work in a team to achieve a common goal in the interest of the EY Global organisation.
    • Ability to remain objective and independent in all risk related matters.
    • Not easily influenced by peoples domineering personalities so that the interests of EY Global is maintained at all times.
    • Comfortable working with individuals at all levels of the firm
    • Ability to teach new skills to others
    • Ability to perform under pressure
