People Management – Maintains employee relations, manages employee performance, trains, mentors and coaches subordinates, selects, assigns and leads/manages people.
Health and Safety – Ensures strict adherence to health and safety standards, guidelines and policies, leads and communicates the importance of health and safety excellence as a foundation for operational excellence, identifies and addresses instances of non-compliance.
Administration – Compiles and submits weekly base productivity reports, compiles, and submits relevant monthly meeting reports, develops and maintains an electronic and/or hard copy filing system, compiles and submits weekly plan to Ground Operations Manager, approves relevant transport documents received from base and submits to administration controller, ensures agreed stock levels are maintained at bases.
Preventative Fire Management – Implements and monitors preventative operations as per plan.
Managing Partnerships – Implements and manages the SLA, establishes common understanding of the partnership with the client/landowner, acts as the point of contact for problems or concerns related to the SLA, sets up regular meetings/information sessions with Base Manager, develops and maintains effective communication channels with base partners.
Crew Leader Management – Identifies potential Crew Leader candidates amongst WoF fire fighters, supports Crew Leaders / teams with logistical arrangements for fire awareness activities.
Job Requirements:
Grade 12 and a Junior Management or Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
3 Years Crew Leader Type 1 or Veld and Forest Management experience
