    Regulatory Compliance Specialist

    Job Responsibilities

    • Consult, collaborate, advise, consider, review business on international best practice, aspects regarding regulatory developments.
    • Support the team and central function by assisting in developing, reviewing, giving input into policies, procedures, frameworks and tools with specific focus on relevant risk legislation, for the benefit of the larger organisation.
    • Identify, define and agree on the regulatory universe applicable for each relevant Business Unit, mitigating risks.
    • Advise and support business in terms of applicability of regulation and in so doing, mitigate risk. 
    • Advise business of changes in regulation and identify potential impact of these changes on the business.
    • Influence the enhancement of business processes and methodologies specific to the area’
    • Create and strengthen awareness of business compliance status in relation to evolving regulatory landscape
    • Promote and facilitate cross Cluster engagement. 
    • Enable management to make informed decisions
    • Ensure that stakeholder relationships are effectively managed
    • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses.
    • Stay abreast of developments in field of expertise, ensuring personal and professional growth.
    • Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and values, leading by example.
    • Ensure upskilling and effective handover to relevant responsible person.
    • Educate self-regarding business, through engagement, meetings, procedures and policy awareness.
    • Contribute to a culture of transformation by participating in Nedbank culture building initiatives, business strategy, and CSI.
    • Assist in drafting and compiling submissions into and prepare executive forum packs

    Minimum Experience Level

    • +4 years' experience in a legal advisory role

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Preferred Qualification

    • Legal qualification

    Essential Certifications

    • Admitted Attorney

    Technical / Professional Knowledge

    • Relevant Governance controls and regulatory knowledge
    • Corporate Governance & Compliance
    • Compliance reporting
    • Archiving Documentation
    • Policy & Procedural Knowledge

    Type of Exposure

    • Broad exposure to financial institutions regulatory landscape, i.e. Banks Act, Financial Intelligence Centre Act, National Payments System Act, Financial Sector Regulation Act, and understanding of the specifically including experience in the regulatory landscape of payments, relating to clearing rules. 
    • Positioning of the groups views at industry associations
    • Interpretation of legislation 
    • Review of business, compliance and legal feedback in response to evolving regulatory developments 
    • Drafting of legislative provisions, submissions to regulators and the like.
