    Rehabilitation & Waste Dump Design Engineer Sishen, Northern Cape

    Job Description:

    As our Rehabilitation & Waste Dump Design Engineer some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Plan waste dumps (both from a design and scheduling perspective) to ensure all planning horizons have sufficient dumping and stockpiling capacity (from the day to day execution to the LoM plan horizon).
    • Measure operational compliance to the dump plan (both dump to design and dump to schedule)
    • Ensure dump designs are compliant with all the relevant KIO standards (including but not limited to mining, geotechnical, operational and planning standards)
    • Ensure the dump and stockpile locations (along with their haul routes) are continuously reviewed and optimized to ensure shortest possible haul routes are always used
    • Develop a master rehabilitation dump plan and ensure the rehabilitation plan is executed as per schedule
    • The master rehabilitation plan consists of the 5Yr rolling concurrent rehabilitation plan, the immediate and final closure liability estimates and planning.
    • Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met. 
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives to enhance mining processes.
    • Keep abreast of developments in the mine planning field to initiate and implement projects and improvement initiatives toward contributing to business profitability and growth.
    • Manage internal and external relations, to ensure that business needs are met.
    • Manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
    • Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.

    Qualifications:

    • BEng/BSC or BTech – Mining Engineering 
    • Driver’s License: Code B (Light Vehicle)
    • 4 Years’ operational experience in an Open Pit Mining environment of which at least 3 years should have been in a planning capacity that involved designing and scheduling.
    • Good understanding of the mine value chain and affected stakeholders.
    • OPMS/RPM & Deswik planning software experience would be advantageous.
