    Release Train Engineer

    Summary

    The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) role that manages and co-ordinates an Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE's major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using the applicable tools and other information sources.
    • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
    • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings.
    • Facilitate the PI planning event and associated preparation activities.
    • Consolidate PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency.
    • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities.
    • Facilitate periodic ART synchronisation meetings.
    • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics.
    • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
    • Help manage risks and dependencies and escalate and track impediments.
    • Encourage collaboration between teams.
    • Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
    • Facilitate System and Solution Demos.
    • Help drive and improve the Program Management Office (PMO) on program execution and operational excellence.
    • Drive continuous improvement within RTE function.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years project management experience and 2+ years of RTE / Scrum Master experience.
    • Thorough understanding of the scaled agile framework development methodology (SAFe)..
    • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
    • Understanding of the organisation's development platforms and languages.
    • Ability to understand technical issues.
