In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Oversees and supervises the repair and remanufacturing activities in Johannesburg (RSA), ensuring safety, quality, and production goals as well as ensuring cost objectives are met. The position prioritizes production schedules based on product introductions, equipment efficiency, material supplies, and administers procedures and budgets. This individual may make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures, direct and indirect labor; develops schedules and proposes staffing requirements; and directly supervises associates.
- Collaborate with Customer Care and Commercial teams to support daily operations
- Responsible for on-time delivery of product repaired and refurbished
- Maintain and enhance the center workflow by leading steps of the process, observing processes and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, developing reporting procedures in accordance with company guidelines
- Improve the performance of Value Streams by implementing and sustaining lean conversion principles to meet customer requirements
- Develop and execute a strategy for improving the safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity (SQDIP) performance
- Manages centers performance and productivity. Reports progress and vital countermeasures to achieve set goals through Daily Management
- Provides regular management reports to management using visual management to share production schedules, delays, and corrective action
- Resolve problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Support/Lead productive kaizen events and sustainment of critical metrics.
- Forecast production, anticipate on trends, negotiate resources
- Parts planning. Provides input to supply chain demand plan to ensure proper part replenishment
- Manages financial planning for the repair center, proposes financial plans for annual operating plan including Capital spend for improvements
- Ensure all activity complies and remain in compliance any time with Cepheid Quality internal standards and other related to requirements to ISO-13485, CE mark (IVDD and IVDR).
- Ensure high level of traceability
- Ensure respect of validation principles (ISO requirements) prior any processes or equipment changes
- Drive ever-improving results by using Danaher Business System (DBS) tools, consulting skills, and change management process
- Maintain accurate records in Cepheid corporate software (SAP, SalesForce, Agile)
- Manage staff resources by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training, and developing technical associates for growth opportunities
- Mentor and develop teams, facilitate individual and team growth
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
- Able to work independently with little supervision and direct work priorities of direct report and manufacturing associates
The essential requirements of the job include:
Education or Experience (in years):
- High school degree with 8+ years of experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience OR
- Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience
- Experience in a quality regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience in a leadership role
- Extensive experience using continuous improvement tools and methodologies
Knowledge and skills:
Leadership: Willingness to work on the shop floor (Gemba) and lead by example; ability to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to an agreement. High tolerance for ambiguity
- Communication: Interpersonal skills that build positive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations. Ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), exceptionally good listening skills, able to present sophisticated or new insights with clarity and simplicity

- Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation, and execution. Hands-on experience with most of the following Lean / Problem solving tools: Lean, Standard Work, Kaizens, PSP, etc.
- Software: ERP strong experience, Ideally in SAP, is appreciated
