Research and Development Technician at Vaal Central Water

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collect compliance and operational monitoring results from quality control and operational laboratories.
• Analyse collected results of jar tests and identify non-compliance to required standards.
• Maintain database for all jar tests results.
• Implement new methods for research purposes
• Investigate any water quality concerns identified in the different regions
• Assist with planning experiential work to investigate new products and technology for potable and wastewater treatment with accurate interpretation.
• Capture and maintain data on electronic water quality management database.
• Compile an annual program for filter evaluation.
• Monitor disinfection efficiency at the plant and the reticulation system.
• Conduct plant inspections as per pre-determined specifications.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Observe all Health and Safety protocols and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc Honours Chemistry/B.Tech Chemical Engineering/Analytical Chemistry/ Water Care.
• 2 years’ experience as a Research Technician.
• Competent in MS Office.
• Report writing skills.
• Valid Drivers’ License.
