    Reward Specialist

    Job Advert Summary    

    • PURPOSE:  Support the design and implementation of business-wide reward initiatives. Collaborate with HR colleagues to render specialist services and create customised reward initiatives that align to the HR and business strategy, and contribute to Exxaro attracting, engaging and retaining high performing employees. Accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of remuneration policies, systems and procedures, making recommendations to senior management regarding same.

    Minimum Requirements    

    •  B Degree (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
    •  Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)


    • 3 - 5 years Extensive knowledge and experience in reward practices Broad knowledge of general HR policies, practices and the labour law framework Strong analytical skills Proven skills of working with large datasets and analysing data in order to generate insights Strong research skills Good writing skills and ability to compile various materials, training courses, presentations, papers and proposals Demonstrated ability to partner with key stakeholders appropriate to the functional area. Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Ability to confidently articulate and present initiatives / proposals / recommendations / reports to Reward, HR and Line Managers Importance: Essential/Minimum

    •  Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

    • Reward consulting and awareness
    •  Provide customised, business and business unit specific reward analysis to support reward consulting as requested by the business or identified by the Reward team
    •  Address queries on relevant STI, LTI and BEE schemes as well as benefits policies
    •  Conduct training to various HR, employee and Line Managers
    •  Provide a supportive service to all employees transferring to and from other countries, including between countries

    Reward governance, risk and compliance

    •  Continuously support the reward governance process as required by the business or identified by the Reward team

    Reward process management and optimisation

    •  Develop solutions to identified problems, customising solutions to the needs of different business units
    •  Compile Reward mandates for approval by Exco and manage the increase process for specific business units or teams
    •  Check data input before submission, check comparative analysis and communicate findings to business units or teams
    •  Develop policies or processes to address shortcomings in the remuneration framework
    •  Proactive and ongoing benchmarking and analysis of reward processes to identify and implement any project or initiative that will contribute to the optimisation of and the reward ROI, increase in employee engagement, increase performance management and reward perceptions, strengthen EVP and improve internal processes . Examples are, benchmarking market competitiveness, development of calibration standards etc.

    Reward service delivery and stakeholder management

    •  Meet team standards by providing high quality and relevant specialised services
    •  Respond to team and client requests and deliver services timeously and accurately to maintain and enhance client satisfaction

    Safe and Healthy Work Environment

    •  Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations practices. Ensure compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies/procedures in line with set standards
    •  Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

    Subject matter expertise

    •  On a continuous basis, research, benchmark and proactively identify and analyse the needs of the business by conducting research into remuneration trends and best practices in employee benefits
    •  Maintain proficient knowledge of labour legislative and regulatory requirements, King IV, and relevant governance codes that influence sphere of job
    •  Provide proactive advice and solutions to relevant business stakeholders and partners

    Team collaboration

    •  Enable reward knowledge and expertise with the HR community and Line Managers
    •  Actively upskill HR and line managers regarding reward offerings and principles through training, toolkits and communication
    •  Ensure integrative work with key stakeholders internally, driving cross functional working relationships and efforts across all levels in the organisation and supporting the generation of new ideas and opportunities
