To create an environment that is conducive to Tiger Brands continuous improvement in the fields of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental compliance, enabling Tiger Brands to achieve its objectives in the above-mentioned fields of legal compliance and social responsibility. Candidate will implement and maintain the international safety and environmental management systems and ensure the site adherence to all SHE related legislation. Candidate will facilitate the identification of site risks with the HODs and lead the documentation of the risk assessment matrices. The SSE Officer is required to drive capability building for SHE at the site with the support of the SC Academy and HRD Personnel. He / She is the custodian of safe working practices. The candidate will ensure that all work is carried out according to SHE policies, standards and procedures by implementing a behavioural based safety program on site. They are further required to supply SHE guidance and support to the site and monitor compliance through the facilitation of SHE incident investigations being conducted and following-up on actions completed. Root cause analysis tools will be utilized for identify and implementing preventative actions for SHE incidents
Design a system the addresses all aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes and Best Practices.
Adjust the system in such a way that the system is tailor made for each type of operation and activity.
Update the system as changes occur within legislation.
Update the system as changes occurred at Tiger Brands Manufacturing sites
Build up a database of all National, Provincial and Municipal legislation.
Summarize legislation into key areas of responsibilities.
Design best practices based on legislative requirements.
Train applicable persons in the correct application of such best practices.
Implement and monitor best practice implementation.
Assisting all manufacturing and nonmanufacturing sites in Tiger Brands with legal compliance aspects ensuring that sites understand the requirements and how it must be implemented.
Training where required and requested.
Ensuring that Tiger Sites are informed of new legislative requirements and how these requirements are applicable to these sites.
Ensuring that all Legal Appointments as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act is in place and that these appointments are updated with changes in the organisation.
Writing of new best practises and standards as per new legislation.
Assisting with the implementation of new standards and possible training needs required
Keeping all Tiger Brands sites informed of legislative requirements and new requirements (e.g. Air Quality Act) and the impact of such legislation on Tiger Brands sites.
Designing new standards and updating the Tiger Brands Environmental System to adapt to new legislation and requirements.
Providing training workshops to inform Tiger Brands sites of possible changes and the impact of associated changes.
Information gathering form all Tiger Brands site on a monthly basis.
Compiling reports on a fixed agreed format.
Distributing monthly Risk reports to the applicable designated persons.
Liaise with Alexander Forbes {MARSH}and all Tiger Brands sites in the beginning of the financial year to set out pre-determined dates for auditing and profiling.
Attend meetings with Alexander Forbes {MARSH}to ensure that auditing is done correctly and as per standard required by Tiger Brands.
Evaluate Audit reports for compliance.
Organise special investigations as required and when required with the assistance of Alexander Forbes {MARSH}if needed.
Evaluate Insurance standards and recommend changes if required.
Where requested, assist Tiger Brands sites with formal and informal investigations of accidents in the workplace.
Attend formal enquiries from the Department of Labour and assist Tiger Brands sites with legal stance.
Liaise with the Department of Labour and Compensation Commissioner on accidents and progress of claims.
Get all applicable information from approved (legal) vendors.
Place information on database and keep database updated.
Liaise with vendors to ensure legal approval.
