    Risk Practitioner

    Purpose

    • The Risk Practitioner ensures that the Group risk management processes are performed efficiently and consistently.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    • The Risk Practitioner updates and maintains risk registers, develops and maintains reports, and provides risk recommendations for management’s consideration. 
    • This position ensures compliance with Clientele's internal controls, regulations, and risk management policies and procedures.
    • The Risk Practitioner works with the business, internal audit, compliance, and company secretary to provide supportive documentation as required.
    • The Risk Practitioner provides oversight of regulatory compliance and IT Governance and risk management requirements as part of the second line of assurance for the Group Risk Function and is therefore expected to remain current on best practices and technology advancements.

    Qualification and Skill Requirements

    Education

    • A relevant degree (Risk Management, Insurance, Bcom, Law);
    • 3  to 5 years relevant experience in a Risk Function, preferably in financial services
    • Risk management qualification;
    • Member of Institute of Risk Management South Africa (added advantage).

    Experience

    • Risk identification, assessments, and report writing;
    • Completing regulatory returns;
    • Operational risk incident reporting;
    • Development of risk mitigation plans;
    • Defining problems, collecting and analysing data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Risk assessment and management methodology;
    • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, principles, and practices;
    • Prudential Standards, Governance and Operational Standards for Insurers (GOI);
    • Analysis, report writing, risk and control assessment, and stakeholder management.
