RPG Developer at Kerridge Commercial Systems South Africa

The Job

• The developer will work closely with other members of the Kerridge Commercial Systems team to deliver high quality business applications for the floor covering, ceramic tile, natural stone, and home decor industry. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design software applications using the full suite of iSeries languages including but not limited to RPG (concentrating on ILE but able to support and maintain older versions including S36 environment code), CLLE, DDS and SQL/DB2. Current development methodologies are centered around object oriented design including RPG ILE, service programs, bound and stored procedures. In many cases, new development must be done in an object oriented fashion to accommodate both native IBM i usage as well as usage on the web.
• Is responsible for maintenance and administration of pre-production code environments. 
• Develop documentation including help text, report samples, and screen samples.
• Work with other developers on the Kerridge Commercial Systems development team on the implementation of common frameworks and solutions.
• Work with Kerridge Commercial Systems development team to support/maintain existing production code in the field and develop and deliver new enhancements and products to our client base.
• Work with the Business Solutions Architect and Technical Solutions Architect on implementing functional requirements of our various applications.
• Interact with Quality Assurance personnel during system testing phases of application development.

Must Have's

• Strong experience in RPG ILE
• Experience with the full software development life cycle, including design, testing, deployment, and documentation activities
• Experience in developing new systems and maintaining existing systems
• Varied knowledge and skills required in the following areas:

• Sense of urgency necessary to meet goals, objectives and deadlines
• Working proficiency of company standard MS Windows and associated office productivity software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
