SaaS Infrastructure Engineer at MiX Telematics

Job Overview

MiX Telematics has a vacancy for SaaS Infrastructure Engineer.  This position is based in Stellenbosch and the successful individual will report to the Development Manager (Operations). The successful individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and monitoring MiX’s SaaS Infrastructure.

Key Responsibility Areas and Duties

• Full life cycle support of Windows and Linux Operating Systems. This includes but is not limited to setting standards for builds, patching, upgrades, and decommission tasks for physical and virtual systems. 
• Designing, implementing, day-to-day management and monitoring of solutions for all Regional Cloud VPC Infrastructure (AWS)
• End-to-end management of the organisation’s security infrastructure (FortiGate Firewalls)
• This implies strong experience with Physical and Virtual FortiGate Firewalls
• Management of Active Directory & related technologies (GPO’s, Sites & Services, DHCP, Certificate Services, DNS, SNMP, etc.)
• Proactive Server Operating Systems Management and ancillary Server Application/Component Support
• Strong networking and system administration skills (Security, LAN, MAN, WAN, BGP technologies).
• Analyse application and/or system requirements, partnering with the technical teams, providing IT infrastructure solutions.
• Partners with external service providers ensuring the availability, reliability and security of our solutions.  This would include all corresponding processes – incident, change, problem, performance, capacity, etc.
• Support internal developers and system owners as needed with their systems.  Troubleshooting, changes, software installs, AD integration, client/server connectivity, and other application integrations.
• Support and maintain VMware ESX environment and VMware applications, vCenter, ESXi, on converged and hyper converged hosting platforms.
• Performs installation & ongoing support of enterprise applications from various vendors.
• Performs advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution for all supported systems.
• Utilize monitoring tools for performance monitoring and capacity management. Plan proactive system changes/upgrades based on performance and capacity data.
• Create and maintain documentation for team standards, procedures, common issue resolution for other IT staff and systems users.
• Participate in team on-call rotation schedules.  On-call provides 24/7 availability during rotation to support issues and assist team with scheduled operational tasks after production hours.
• Position requires working after normal business hours to implement changes to supported systems.

Qualifications, Experience and Specific Skills

Required Qualifications/Experience

• Hyper-V and/or VMWare
• 5+ years of experience with Windows Server Technologies
• 5+ years of experience with Active Directory
• 1+ years of AWS Operations
• Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends.
• General consulting skills including: analysis and problem solving, written and verbal communication, and team collaboration, disruptive and dynamic thinking.
• Very strong inter personal skills with a dedication to service excellence & user satisfaction.

Additional knowledge and experience (highly beneficial):

• Amazon AWS Solutions Architect Certification
• ITIL/Cobit (or general IT governance)
• ISO/27001 implementation
• PowerShell and Python skills
• MS SQL and/or MySQL skills/experience
• Experience with ElasticStack
• Experience with Wazzuh

• FortiGate Firewall (NSE4)
