    Safety Communication and Engagement Specialist

    Job Description:

    The work of this role is to deliver effective integrated change, communication and engagement strategies and plans that drive the mindset and behavioural changes necessary to embed a purpose-led, high performance culture, where employees are unconditional about safety.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Contribute to the development of the strategic communication and engagement plan for the Group Safety strategy.

    • Manage the development and delivery of Anglo American’s all-employee global safety engagement programme, Safety 365 including our flagship safety event, Global Safety Day.

    • Develop and deliver change and engagement plans (aligned to the Anglo American change management model) for Group Safety’s strategic priority projects in collaboration with the Group Safety leadership team, and safety colleagues around the Group.

    • Provide guidance and advice on change, communication, and engagement best practice within Group Safety, and across BU and operations.

    • Develop measurement criteria and processes to effectively evaluate the impact of safety change and engagement programmes, in line with the Group’s broader Listening Strategy.

    • Ensure safety change and engagement activities align to a clear and consistent safety narrative for employees and promote the narrative across other change and engagement initiatives in the various geographies.

    • Manage work packages and relationships with sites, suppliers and translators.

    • Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree educated or significant experience in a relevant subject area including communications, change management, PR, marketing.

    Role-specific knowledge and experience:

    • Planning and delivery of internal and change communication activities in a large, matrix, multinational organisation.

    • A good understanding of change, communication and engagement principles and practices.

    • Proven experience of working in or with a Communications team within a large corporate or within the communications function at a mining operation or experience in an agency, working with large corporate clients.

    • Developing and driving consistent communication messages either at Group level or within business units, ensuring alignment and approvals are in place.
