    Safety Officer

    Job Description

    As a Safety Officer (24 months Fixed Term Contract), you will provide services as required and your resposibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Identify ways to support specific safety, health & sustainability opportunities and risks, ensuring CPM activities comply with all Safety, Health & Environmental requirements.
    • Support the safe execution of work in the CPM environment, performing regular risk assessments, monitoring safety performance, and addressing any risks/issues immediately.
    • Drive and support compliance with relevant policies and standards and particularly the Contractor Performance Management policy & procedures.
    • Support Company Representative’s (CR) and any CR Delegates in performing Safety Verification and Safety Oversight activities of contractors.
    • Provide advice and stakeholder support to ensure safety compliance throughout contract execution.
    • Support preparation of the SoW by providing Safety inputs, including during risk assessments, evaluation of safety PUE´s, Group minimum mandatory critical controls (MMCC) and Site MMCC and its applicability to the SoW.
    • Participate in meetings and key activities as noted in the CPM procedure.
    • Provide Contractor safety feedback to ensure all Contractor suggestions, complaints and recommendations are adequately addressed.
    • Participate in Contract Safety inspections and audits.
    • Complete SHE tender evaluations for all tenders’ s launched and submit reports to Supply Chain.
    • Verify compliance to the technical, quality, safety, schedule aspects of SoW execution recommending actions to correct deviations.
    • Guide SMMEs on SHE related requirements in preparation for tenders.
    • Guide SMMEs to complete the pre-qualification in Passport 360.
    • Engage with onboarding team on SMMEs busy onboarding to ensure proper assistance is provided.

    This role is in the Safety & Sustainable Development (SSD) department at a Band 7 level reporting to Manager Contractor Management

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma in Safety Management
    • SAMTRAC or similar
    • Computer literate (MS Power point, Word, Excel, Access and Projects)
    • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
    • Passport 360 knowledge is mandatory
    • Drivers licence Code B (Light Vehicle)

    Experience

    • 3 - 5 years project or operations site experience
    • Mining industry experience
    • Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act
