Job Description

• IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: 

• National Diploma/Degree in Safety Management
• SAMTRAC
• COMSOC 1 & COMSOC 2
• Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment training
• Incident Investigation course
• Trade Certificate (Engineering Safety Officer)
• Blasting Certificate for underground scheduled mines (Underground Safety Officer)
• Valid driving licence code 08
• A certificate Isometrix management system (advantageous)
• Advanced computer literacy

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: 

• Isometrix management system
• 5 years relevant experience
• Presentation skills
• Auditing

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: 

• Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Identifying all legal elements as well as Ivanplats safety framework system and establish an audit system to ensure compliance
• Receive, advise and audit compliance to all DMPR directives
• Audit compliance to current or active permissions and licenses
• Together with Isometrix Implementor/Officer, design an Isometrix audit tool which will feed information into the management system
• Communicate audit outcomes with the relevant heads of department
• Attend to Legal appointments
• Regularly check Legal documentation/Logbooks
