SAP Technical Platform Owner – ALM at Salt South Africa

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Landscape Strategy & Architecture:

• Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives.
• Develop and maintain the technical landscape strategy, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Determine the best-fit solution platforms for managing and developing the technical landscape.
• Document all solution architecture design and analysis work.
• Act as a liaison between business units, solution architects, and AMS functional teams.
• Monitor and govern solution design and deployment, escalating risks and delays as necessary.

Solution Assessment & Recommendations:

• Assess end-to-end business processes to identify landscape needs and potential gaps.
• Analyze emerging technology trends and assess their practical applications for SAP and third-party management models.
• Evaluate market and competitor technology trends to determine their potential impact.
• Detect critical deficiencies or technical debt within the IT environment and recommend solutions for improvement.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure systems or infrastructure fit the defined solution architecture.

Application of Technology in Business Solutions:

• Lead evaluation, design, and development of technical landscape requirements and project definitions.
• Guide business functions in the adoption of best practices for landscape management and solutions.
• Manage and develop solution architecture for integrated solutions and projects, working closely with other architects.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on SAP and third-party technologies to drive targeted business outcomes.

Technical Landscape Operations & Support:

• Take accountability for third-line landscape support, including incident resolution and problem management.
• Establish direction and standards for third-party AMS teams in landscape controls and management.
• Monitor solution service levels and ensure service improvement plans are defined and executed.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC standards and governance for landscape developments and changes.
• Ensure system audit controls and governance compliance.
• Optimize landscape performance, availability, scalability, and advanced platform capabilities using SAP RISE.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, IT, or a relevant field.
• 8+ years of SAP Basis management experience.
• 8+ years of SAP RISE/S4 HANA or similar implementation experience.
• Deep understanding of SAP Basis, Solution Manager, Signavio, and ALM integration capabilities.
• Strong business analysis and technology management skills.
• Ability to anticipate and interpret complex issues impacting functional areas.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complexity into actionable insights.
• Strong business acumen and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
