    Scrum Master - Midrand

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • The primary purpose of a Scrum Master is to facilitate and optimize the Scrum team's effectiveness by ensuring that the team follows Scrum practices and principles 
    • This role is responsible for identifying and managing risks, dependencies, and impediments, leading teams and business in finding a solution, coordinating with other teams and delivery partners, and actively escalating when needed to ensure resolution
    • This role is responsible for keeping a pulse on needs and insights from stakeholders and other initiatives, regularly communicating status, changes in direction, and relevant metrics to avoid misalignment and roadblocks 
    • The Scrum master is a servant leader to the DevOps delivery team, help drive continuous improvement, coaching agile methods, and providing support and facilitation to increase velocity and team productivity

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Servant Leadership: The Scrum Master serves as a leader who focuses on the needs of the team members, helping them to achieve their goals and removing obstacles in their way.
    • Facilitator: The Scrum Master facilitates Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. They help the team in organizing and conducting these events effectively.
    • Coach:The Scrum Master coaches the team on Scrum practices and principles, promoting a deep understanding of agile values and helping the team continuously improve its processes.
    • Removing Obstacles: The Scrum Master identifies and removes impediments or obstacles that hinder the team's progress. This involves working with stakeholders to ensure the team has the resources and support needed to deliver value.
    • Protecting the Team: The Scrum Master acts as a shield for the team, protecting them from external interference and distractions, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality products.
    • Promoting Collaboration: The Scrum Master fosters a collaborative and transparent environment, ensuring effective communication within the team and between the team and stakeholders.
    • Continuous Improvement: The Scrum Master facilitates continuous improvement by helping the team reflect on its performance during Sprint Retrospectives and encouraging the adoption of better practices.

    The Ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Information Technology or related , Information Systems, or other related field
    • Minimum 5 years IT experience
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry
    • Minimum 5 years relevant experience as a project manager or scrum Master managing in excess of 10  projects per quarter with disruption
    • Lending experience is preferable > 1 Years
    • Proven experience managing delivery with external parties and managing multiple teams
    • Experience in delivering complex digital capabilities
    • Experience leading teams using waterfall/agile methodologies in large-scale teams
    • JIRA/Confluence, MS Project, or equivalent experience preferred
    • Certifications is agile project management e.g. Certified Agile coach, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) 
    • Experience working with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

    • Excellent facilitation, organization, and problem-solving skills, helping the team manage conflicts, challenges, escalating appropriately
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, and update delivery teams and  senior executives
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in fluid, fast-changing environments under pressure
    • Team backlog management
    • Backlog item estimation
    • Is a role model for best practices in Agile process execution, motivating other team members to do the same 
    • Ability to continue to monitor, learn, and implement industry best practices from the agile community 
    • Natural "servant" leader, with strong ability to coach and develop others, an inherent entrepreneurial spirit, and focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance
