Section Engineer Production at Anglo American

Job Description:

You will be responsible for: 

• Allocation of resources within section
• Setting daily, weekly and monthly technical targets
• Approval of sections’ leave rosters
• Interpretation of the legal standards
• Shutting down the section
• Determining work priorities
• Calling out specialist expertise when problems occur
• Veto on individual resources on their shift
• Changing plans and schedules on the shift to minimise the effect of unexpected problems
• Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
• Agreeing employees’ leave and overtime
• Identifying employees suitable for further training
• Disciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures
• Shaft schedules
• Planned Maintenance Schedules
• Maintenance of assets
• Site specific standard
• Budgeting
• Legal compliance responsibilities
• Carry out 1st ,2nd and 3rd line maintenance at Plant
• Plant projects
• Transport man and materials
• Construct, install and maintain electrical, mechanical and mining equipment

Qualifications:

You will need:

• Engineering-related degree – BSc or B Eng (Electrical or Mechanical)
• Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works). If you have a GCC in Factories or are working towards your GCC in Factories, this would be advantageous

You should have: 

• Five years’ post-qualification experience
• Processing experience (working in a Refinery, Smelter or Concentrator) would be advantageous
• Strong maintenance background, including planning and execution of work
• A good understanding of operational risk
• Good understanding of the OSH Act would be advantageous
• Valid RSA Driver's Licence
