Section Engineering Manager (Thabazimbi) at Anglo American

Job Description:

• You will take on a range of different tasks within the Engineering Operations Department.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Provides visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Anglo American values.
• Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy but has direct accountability for the execution of such strategies within the area of accountability.
• Develops, implements and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and operational tactics and plans to deliver the business objectives. 
• Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals. 
• Leads and manages resources (labour, spares, suppliers. Contractors etc) to deliver production targets and projects as required. 
• Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices. 
• Ensures compliance to all group, BU and other engineering and asset management standards and specifications within the area of accountability 
• Monitors health of discipline and takes necessary action to ensure that the operation is adequately staffed with required skill level, inclusive of mentoring and development plans for subordinates. 
• Develops sets and manages the engineering and maintenance budgets
• This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to Senior Engineering Manager

Qualifications:

• Government Certificate of Competency

Experience

• Five years Post Engineering qualification experience

Knowledge and Skills

• Proven ability in large Capex project management 
• Proven ability in minimising Operational and Business Risk 
• Proven ability in protecting and managing capital assets 
• Experience in SAP: Planned Maintenance 
• Strategic Vision 2-5 years 
• Underground Mining experience (advantageous)
