    Section Head Reactor Maintenance

    Job Requirements

    Maintenance and regulatory compliance  

    • Develop, implement and maintain a maintenance schedule for all systems to ensure regular upkeep and prevent unplanned downtime.
    • Coordinate and prioritise scheduled maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and emergency repairs to minimise production downtime.
    • Ensure that maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
    • Regularly review and update maintenance programs and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Promote and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.

    Personnel & Resource Management

    • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary maintenance team of approximately 20 personnel, including electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and IT services staff, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
    • Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure optimal system performance, minimal downtime, and compliance with statutory certifications for all team members.
    • Assess training needs, facilitate technical and statutory training programs, and provide coaching to promote continuous professional development.
    • Maintain and update records of maintenance activities, including work orders, schedules, reports, and proper documentation of procedures, equipment specifications, and safety protocols.
    • Monitor and report on maintenance performance, system reliability, and costs, while identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and industry trends to improve system reliability and align maintenance activities with broader business goals.

    Project Management and Budgeting

    • Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to meet operational requirements.
    • Control and monitor the procurement of tools, spares, and equipment for all maintenance activities.
    • Ensure cost-effective operations by optimizing resource utilization and reducing unnecessary expenditures.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BEng Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation /Electronics Engineering NQF Level 8
    • An NQF level 5 in leadership/management qualification
    • Professional Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) (Pr Eng)
    • Government Certificate of competence (GCC) is an advantage
    • Qualification in Engineering Technology/ operations management is an advantage

    Minimum Experience

    • 8 years of experience in engineering maintenance environment and 3 years of experience in the management of an engineering maintenance team.
