    Security And Risk Manager (Snr)

    Qualifications:

    • A university degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, ideally specializing in Security Risk Management with a focus on a specific country or region.

    Professional Experience:

    • A minimum of 10 years of documented experience in security risk management for the private sector or development organizations in fragile and security-risk-affected countries
    • Additional training and experience in security risk and crisis management, security preventive behavior, security risk mitigation, facility protection, and health are required
    • Previous management experience is an asset 
    • Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act 
    • Proven ability to work effectively with intercultural teams in security-risky environments

    Empower Your Impact: Unveiling Your Role - Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate all security risk management activities in the three countries in close cooperation with the Country Director.
    • Develop and adjust all security risk-related SOPs for SA, Lesotho, and Eswatini (once staff is based there), ensuring the incorporation of specific requirements and perspectives of women.
    • Design, organize, and conduct country-specific training on major risks, risk behavior, and GIZ SOPs.
    • Onboard new staff members through in-depth information sessions and conduct briefings for short-term visitors.
    • Conduct security assessments of staff houses and offices, coordinating the provision of necessary security measures according to security risk minimum standards.
    • Establish and coordinate a network of security risk focal points on Cluster and/or Project level.
    • Support victims of security incidents, guiding them through the relevant processes.
    • Permanently analyze the security risk situation, establish security networks (embassies, police, community security networks, etc.) for information sharing, and provide necessary communication and propose mitigation measures to the Country Director, the Management Team, and all staff if needed.
    • Organize and manage necessary databases (phone cascades, EMNS, Staff and Visitors Data Sheets).
    • Ensure the implementation of the GIZ Minimum Security Standards and conduct annual risk analysis and MSS exercises.
    • Exchange and coordinate with the GIZ regional Security Hub in Kenya, the Corporate Security Unit, COPE, and Pro-Care (SA-based psychological counseling service).
    • Propose, elaborate, and monitor contracts with security providers and support (e.g., security equipment installations, NETCARE, ADT/G4S).
    • Coordinate safety and security at the GIZ Offices in Hatfield in coordination with Growthpoint (lesser) and their security provider.

    You will thrive in this role if you possess the following additional competences and qualities:

    • Excellent writing and communication skills, with fluency in English
    • German language skills would be an advantage 
    • Solution-oriented, proactive, and a strong team player and communicator
    • Strong management skills, with demonstrated experience and understanding
    • Very good analytical skills and the ability to create, convey, and implement new concepts
    • Familiarity with the South African security situation and a deep understanding of the multicultural, social, and political environment
    • Excellent networking skills and proven experience
    • Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance and make sound, rational decisions in critical situations
    • Reliable, discreet, and possesses sensitive communication skills
    • Solid knowledge and understanding of GIZ as an organization, including its specific organizational culture and security needs
    • Very good IT skills, including proficiency in basic applications and EMNS
    • Ability to work under pressure and during irregular hours
    • Willingness to travel regularly to different destinations in South Africa, Lesotho, and eSwatini, possibly at short notice
