The Security Engineer I supports the organization’s cybersecurity operations by monitoring, maintaining, and improving security platforms and compliance activities. This hands-on role focuses on system health, basic compliance tasks, and escalating complex issues to senior team members.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain security tools and platforms, such as DLP, email security, firewalls, SSO, privileged access tools, and endpoint protection systems.
Perform routine compliance checks, including password policies, shared credentials, and unauthorized applications.
Track, document, and report deviations from security standards.
Assist with secure‑by‑design initiatives and support evaluations of new security technologies.
Contribute to end‑user security awareness activities, including phishing simulations.
Collaborate with analysts, consultants, and managers to escalate and resolve issues.
Maintain clear and accurate documentation of platform health and security tasks.
Process ServiceNow requests, such as URL approvals, access requests, and general security inquiries.
Requirements
Hands-on experience with information security tools (e.g., firewalls, DLP, endpoint protection, SSO, privileged access management).
Understanding of security monitoring, compliance processes, and exception handling.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Basic technical troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
Degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience, training, or certifications.
Security+, CEH, CompTIA cybersecurity certifications, or similar.
2 years of experience in IT security operations, cybersecurity, or related technical roles.
Familiarity with monitoring, compliance checks, and escalation workflows.
