    Seed Production Lead – Letsitele

    We’re hiring for Seed Production Lead – Letsitele, Limpopo

    At Corteva Agriscience, you will help us grow what’s next. In this role, you will use your research/agricultural experience to serve as a team member in the Maize breeding team to conduct planning, planting, data collection, harvesting and seed processing for Research nursery activities for Maize for East and partly West of South Africa

    You Will Be Part of Growing Team

    • Research and Development

    Your Challenge:

    • Ensures efficient workflow of multi crops on the farm.
    • Managing labor effectively between all farm activities
    • Planning, planting, labeling, and harvesting of all crops.
    • Ensuring quality pollinations are done.
    • Managing and application of fertilizer and chemical programs
    • Operating tractors and planters when necessary.
    • Will need to use computer programs to create and map experiments when necessary.
    • Works as part of a team to plan and execute experiments/trials efficiently and accurately within seasonal deadlines.
    • Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of research equipment.
    • Interact with various experiment owners with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
    • Participate in improvement of safety programs and protocols (safety, efficiency, effectiveness) specific to direct work environment to identify and communicate potential risks and benefits.
    • Complete personal development activities as part of a performance management and development plan

    • Serve as a team member in the Seed Production Team

    Qualifications

    To Grow What Matters, You Will Need

    • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or scientific related field and/or 5 years industry related experience required.
    • An understanding of the requirements for plantings of Regulated materials and non-Regulated materials
    • Strong background in agronomy
    • AVCASA and BASOS will be beneficial.
    • Experience in managing plant breeding research nurseries and related activities.
    • Proven ability to make timely decisions, solve problems and build consensus.
    • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people.
    • Ability to supervise and prioritize multiple tasks is critical.
    • Technical and mechanical skills for troubleshooting, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment, to ensure excellent condition and safety of equipment at any time.
    • Proficiency in Office software such as spreadsheets, mail, calendar, and presentation software.
    • Always comply with safety regulations and country laws, lead in way which will inspire all team members and follow the example.
    • After hours work required in season
    • Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather.
    • Valid driver’s license is required.
