Senior Artisan : Millwrght( Mechanical/ Electrical) Velddrif at Bergrivier Municipality

Qualifications:

• (N3) Trade tested artisan with occupational certificate in Millwright

Experience:

• Three (3) – Five (5) years of relevant experience post qualification in similar environment

Requirements:

• Code B driver’s licence
• Computer literacy 
• Proficiency in at least two (2) of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans/English/Xhosa- Read, Write, Speak) ·
• Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime ∙
• Must be physically fit and able bodied ∙
• Required to work in all weather conditions  
• Must be prepared to enter confined spaces  
• Must perform duties in the whole area of the municipality when required

Job purpose:

• Co-ordinates and control the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized task activities associated with mechanical and electrical installations, maintenance, repair including, monitoring and corrections supports personnel productivity and performance and , attending to routine/general administrative recording requirements contributing to the accomplishment of departmental objectives ∙ To exercise management, control and supervision over the support personnel, equipment, vehicles, functions and activities of the Maintenance Branch of the Electrotechnical Services Division to ensure the maintenance, repair of water and sewage pump stations, treatment works and mechanical and electrical installations of the municipality and compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act  To perform certain technical, administrative and other tasks and duties associated with the above mentioned functions, the purchases of materials, supplies, supplies, tools, equipment or fuel for his/her branch and with transportation of support personnel, tools, equipment and materials and the driving/ operating of certain municipal vehicles.

Key Performance Areas:

• Interprets and co-ordinates specific pre-work/ site requirements with regards to installations, repairs and planned and predictive maintenance sequences and guides the activities of personnel  Performs managerial and supervisory duties  Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. time sheets, progress and productivity field report, etc.) and related forms (vehicle checklist)  Performs controlling and administrative functions regarding to the use of safety clothes, tools, equipment, machinery, material supplies and vehicles used by the workers  Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy and/or specialized vehicles and equipment (Crane Trucks, etc.) during electrical installation, repair and maintenance activities ∙ Performs administrative tasks regarding the purchase of materials, supplies, tools, equipment and fuel ∙ Co-ordinates activities associated with the construction and installations of pumps and equipment in pump stations and treatment works ∙ To support main job functions in the Pump Maintenance Section of the municipality and to ensure quality service delivery ∙ Performs other general, controlling, artisan, technical and administrative duties and tasks ∙ Perform tasks associated with the transportation of personnel, tools, equipment and materials and the driving/operating of certain vehicles ∙ Co-ordinates activities/ sequences associated with troubleshooting/ fault finding and repairing ∙ Responsible to take part in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System
