Job Description

• The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for supporting and overseeing key financial and accounting functions, including financial reporting, working capital management, internal controls and financial processes.
• The role will also provide supervision and support to the finance team while ensuring accurate financial information, compliance with relevant regulations and the effective implementation of financial SOPs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare, collate and interpret accurate financial reports to support management decision-making.
• Oversee and support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Manage and monitor inventory control and related financial processes.
• Assist with managing operating and working capital requirements.
• Ensure compliance with tax requirements, statutory regulations and relevant financial legislation.
• Coordinate and support the audit process, ensuring that required documentation and financial statements are prepared accurately and timeously.
• Assist with budget preparation, monitoring and variance analysis.
• Implement, maintain and continuously improve internal financial controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and operational efficiencies.
• Supervise, support and provide guidance to members of the finance team.
• Liaise effectively with management, internal stakeholders and external service providers.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Financial Management, Accounting or a related field.
• A valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence and own reliable vehicle.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or similar finance role.
• A sound understanding of the overall finance and accounting function, with a hands-on approach.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience using Sage 50, Sage 200 or a similar accounting system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Previous experience within the FMCG, Fast Food or Retail sector will be advantageous.
• Cost accounting experience will be advantageous.
