    Senior Business Analyst

    Description

    • We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst with proven senior-level experience to join the Equal Experts network. As a member of the team, you will work alongside our clients to help deliver products and solutions to meet business needs. And, of course, all this happens in a consultative, collaborative fashion – in keeping with our values.

    Responsibilities

    • Working with Product Owners and other subject matter experts to define the requirements (user stories) to build new functionality, including BDD/Gherkin style acceptance criteria
    • Working with QA’s to validate the acceptance criteria, modify and split requirements as appropriate, and participate in estimation and iteration planning sessions
    • Working with other Business Analysts to understand and define end-to-end or integration requirements across more than one project team, as well as systems within the client as required
    • Owning all requirements to be built by the team, presenting stories and journeys, and facilitating requirement workshops
    • Relationship management with the client Product Owners and the wider team
    • Supporting the Development Managers and Project Leads as necessary
    • Assisting the team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition
    • Identifying and removing impediments; preventing distractions that interfere with the team’s ability to deliver sprint goals
    • Improving the productivity of the team in any way possible

    Required Skills

    • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst/Product Owner
    • Confidence in performing data discovery; manipulating and reviewing large volumes of data in order to validate any data assumptions / check data completeness.
    • Considers all aspects of data integrity including the business meaning of data, relationships between entities/attributes, data quality, where in customer journeys the data has come from and how it has been manipulated
    • Confidence in analysing and articulating data analysis requirements i.e. attributes needed for reporting and/or interfaces.
    • Data literate; confident in describing how data is ingested, manipulated, stored and performing calculations using that data
    • Confidence in holding business and technical conversations with own project team including Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects and/or Senior Engineers, Operational and/or Delivery teams
    • Able to describe data transformation logic required, based on business rules and an understanding of the data (i.e. columns and fields)
    • Has used a variety of models to visualise complex problems within a given sphere (domain, technical, business) to build common understanding amongst different stakeholder groups.
    • Is comfortable using different modelling techniques to understand integrations and dependencies between systems / domains.
    • Proven commercial experience in delivering enterprise solutions
    • Most aspects of software delivery and life cycle - including:
    • gathering and developing detailed functional requirements
    • breaking down complex requirements into independent user stories
    • capturing detailed acceptance criteria
    • building a release plan with user stories in collaboration with the customer
    • managing the backlog, running showcases and incorporating user feedback
    • Familiarity with some of the technical aspects of software development, including understanding the capabilities and limitations of programming languages, and a knowledge of testing (System, Unit, Integration, Interface)
    • An understanding of data modelling, object modelling and OO design principle
    • Opinions about how to build great software and being prepared to defend them
    • Successfully applied Agile/XP/Scrum practices
    • May have introduced Agile techniques and coached teams to apply them effectively
    • Ideally (although not essential) experience of running distributed teams and distributed Agile
