Senior business intelligence developer level 1 at Derivco

• To support the execution of the technical BI strategy and ensure BI development projects are delivered on time and delivers business value.  This role will use advanced BI application technologies and automation to design and develop business intelligence software and tools that make data accessible and useful for analysis and translation into business insights.  This role will be required to implement and contribute towards the improvement of BI Development practices as well as the coaching of junior team members to improve the team's capabilities.

Requirements gathering, analysis and planning

• Gather, document, influence and analyse business and system requirements for large, highly complex projects or programmes to understand and verify their feasibility, validity and alignment to department/BU strategy.
• Plan and manage BI development projects from inception to closure to ensure BI development projects are delivered on time, within scope and meeting the solution requirements.
• Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends to draw insights, predict trends and report to stakeholders
• Creates and drives an operational implementation plan for a product or service to support the implementation of a technical product / service strategy

Solution Design

• Analyses requirements and designs software to create software designs that meet functional, performance and security requirements.

Develop & Implement BI Solutions

• Build the supporting structures for extracting, transforming and loading data within and between internal and external software systems to ensure data is acceptable for reporting purposes.
• Utilizes advanced database and BI application technologies, e.g. DAX, nifi, cloud technologies, data bricks, etc. to design, develop visualise and test business intelligence products (Eg: Data Warehouse, Tools, Reports, Dashboards etc.)
• Creates, maintains and reviews documentation for all BI solution development and maintenance to provide and ensure a record of all BI development activities for visibility and knowledge transfer.
• Configure and test security and access on BI solutions to ensure compliance with data protection principles and requirements
• Implements tools and frameworks within a business unit for automating report generation, identification of data-quality issues, and data governance
• Adopt and define deployment pipelines according to DevOps principles
• Creates scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation, and model implementation

Quality Assurance

• Review developed solutions to ensure these are delivered within required quality standards.
• Leads solution reviews to improve development skills, data/ information quality metrics and knowledge of the team.
• Recommend quality metrics to contribute to the team's quality measurements and the maintenance of standards

Production Support

• Troubleshoots BI tools, reports, systems and software, data loads and data reconciliation inconsistencies to resolve complex BI solution issues within business unit.
• Tracks, monitors and analyzes performance and production issues, and implements improvements

Customer/Stakeholder Management

• Keeps customer informed about business intelligence tool problems, enhancements and resolutions
• Creates and delivers training content to stakeholders customers to enable the optimal use of the business intelligence tools and analysis of data.
• Monitors performance metrics, service delivery agreements and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities and implement initiatives that improves stakeholder adoption and value.

Knowledge Practices & Continuous Improvement

• Align and implement practices required for the effective delivery of BI development services
• Analyse performance measures to track and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of BI development services and recommend improvements.
• Conduct research, review new technology and analyse data to identify BI development trends, new methods and standards
• Participates in vendor evaluations to make recommendations on BI products and services
