    Senior Commercial Manager

    Senior Commercial Manager 

    • The purpose of this role is to identify, manage and grow new business opportunities, projects, and partnerships in order to enhance and develop the business by expanding the business’ commercial footprint. The Senior Commercial Manager reports directly to the Head of Commercial. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities and managing partner relationships. The Senior Commercial Manager is required to provide strategic and operational focus to specific projects. They provide support and assistance to the Head of Commercial on various commercial projects. The Commercial Business Developer reports directly to this position. Internal Liaison takes place across internal departments. External liaison takes place with partners, regulators, and service providers.

    Duties and Responsibilities (include but is not limited to):

    • To drive business development across the Mukuru network
    • Identify opportunities to expand product and service offerings and ensure that they are strategically and legally viable
    • Collaborate with in-country representatives and advise the Commercial Business Developer with regards to projects and partnerships
    • Negotiate with potential partners in order to obtain mutually beneficial signed contracts
    • To effectively manage the relationships with current partners
    • Grow the relationship by expanding the partner service offerings and partner Touches
    • Identify ways to grow partner revenue (i.e. contract extension, partnership expansion)
    • To ensure growth in the Enterprise Payments (EP) product
    • Create strategies to maximise the EP product profits in sustainable way
    • Carry out market analysis and monitoring of micro and macro influences
    • Conduct competitor analysis as well as gap analysis
    • To provide support and assistance to the Head of Commercial
    • To maintain current knowledge of remittance practices and activities in business corridors
    • Ensure a deep understanding of market trends, competitor positioning and offerings, key drivers of the business as well as industry best practice
    • Analyse the metrics and identify patterns
    • To perform a general people management function
    • Coach and mentor the Commercial Business Developer
    • Manage HR related administration
    • To manage own professional and self-development

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 /or equivalent (Essential)
    • Degree in any business-related field (Essential)
    • 8 years’ experience in Business Development (Essential) In the remittance / FinTech industry (Desirable)
    • Experience in negotiating with tier 1 retailers (Desirable)
    • Experience/exposure to working in African countries (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of payments and remittances
    • Knowledge of software development
    • Knowledge of business to-business sales and proposal writing
    • Knowledge of commercial agreements
    • Knowledge of software capabilities
    • Knowledge of operating license requirements
