Ethics and Compliance Programme

Support the implementation Group Ethics and Compliance Programme at Astron Energy: This will include support with:

• Performing regular risk assessments to identify, assess and evaluate compliance risks across the business.
• Adapting and implementing Group compliance policies, standards, procedures and guidelines for South African and Astron’s requirements, including the timely deployment of policies and procedures
• Providing advice to the business regarding day-to-day compliance related matters.
• Preparing the business for Group monitoring reviews and supporting the implementation of actions and required controls identified as part of the Group Monitoring, Group Assurance and Internal Audit reviews.
• Reviewing Conflict of Interests declarations and escalating conflicts requiring management plans to the Deputy Compliance Manager.
• Deliver effective compliance communications and training and manage and track completions. Liaise with the business on non-completions.
• Conduct due diligence reviews for low and medium-risk Third Party Due Diligence process and high-risk KYCs.
• Lead on the review of Astron Energy’s overnight screening matches.
• Lead on the review of the KYC Assets (Procurement) reviews, escalating high-risk counterparties to Glencore Compliance.
• Recommend to Glencore Compliance whether Astron Energy should do business with certain third parties based on the results of the due diligence.
• Track ethics and compliance programme data (key KPIs) to input into key governance, risk and compliance committees and the Group Semi-Annual Compliance Reports.
• Lead on the timely update of the Group CGR platform including training trackers, policies implemented, actions closed, and the other requirements as per the Group procedures.
• Escalate concerns and issues to the Deputy Compliance Manager and Compliance Manager as appropriate and in a timely manner.

People Management

• Provide day to day management to the Compliance Analyst.
• Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Engage regularly with Group Compliance on the implementation of and reporting on the ethics and compliance programme.

Professional Qualification and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree related to accounting, legal or risk management

Work Experience:

• 3 or more years of relevant work experience in Risk & Compliance Management
• At least 2 years’ experience in supporting on the implementation of regulatory and compliance requirements.
• A good understanding of the oil and commodities industry
