    Senior Consultant Communications: Newsroom

    Job Description

    This role is responsible to execute effective communication processes and plans across OML Communications. The role monitors adherence to communications playbooks and frameworks.

    KEY RESULT AREAS

    Operational Delivery

    • Execute communication plans.
    • Execute and report on communication initiatives and campaigns.
    • Monitor the environment, including newsfeeds to determine meaningful and important information and insights that could impact OML reputation or enhance brand engagement.
    • Support identification, assess & rank materiality of risk to reputation and makes recommendations.
    • Provide support on suitable approaches to deal with traditional and social media trends and issues including:
    • Crafting and recommending mitigation responses to identified trends.
    • Identifying leverage opportunities for public affairs and reputation management.
    • Coordinating effective traditional and social media interaction on public affairs related issues.
    • Supporting communications community on how to respond to media monitoring metric insights
    • Monitor and support relevant teams on effective online community management"
    • Support media monitoring indicators, metrics, and targets
    • Monitor and interpret media monitoring indicators, metrics, and targets
    • Support existing processes in place to:
    • Monitor, identify and escalate public affairs, sustainability and reputational issues emerging on traditional and social media.
    • Monitor, identify and escalate compliance issues on traditional and social media relating to OML policies, principles, and house views "
    • Communications assurance & governance framework and mechanisms:
    • Adhere to communications playbooks
    • Implement COE specific compliance requirements e.g., POPI for newsroom"

    • Accountable for service delivery through own efforts.
    • Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results.
    • Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks, and output quality over periods of up to a year.

    Finance and Governance

    • Understand, interpret, and implement COE specific compliance requirements within GMPAS delivery

    Role Requirements

    • Relevant degree or qualification
    • Sound experience in the delivery of communication plans and content
    • Experience in using digital platforms and channels
    • 4-6 years solid experience in media monitoring and evaluation. Analysing media metrics
    • Relationships with relevant media across South Africa
    • Strong project management skills
    • Experience in broader Communications and Public Affairs environment
    • Strong Reputation Management Experience
