Senior Consultant (Financial Services) – Remote at FS Personnel Recruitment

Position overview:

• Our client in an established consulting firm specialising in the financial services sector is looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to join their growing team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience within:
• Banking
• Insurance
• Financial Services Consulting
• Development Finance Institutions
• Regulatory or Supervisory Authorities
• Proven experience leading client projects, workstreams or deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Advantageous Experience:

• Credit Risk Rating Model Development
• Probability of Default (PD) Models (master risk scale design and calibration)
• SME, Middle Market or Project Finance Scoring Models
• IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) Methodologies
• PD/LGD/EAD Term Structures, Forward-Looking Macroeconomic Overlays and Provisioning
• Basel II / Basel III Regulatory Capital Frameworks
• Development Finance, Blended or Concessional Finance Structures, or African Financial Markets
• Pricing Model Development
• Debt Pricing
• Equity or Private Equity Valuations
• Financial Modelling
• Model Governance and Validation
• Python, R, SQL or VBA
• CFA, FRM, or actuarial credential

Key Responsibilities:

Client Consulting:

• Lead and deliver consulting engagements within the financial services industry.
• Manage project workstreams and client deliverables.
• Develop practical and innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Financial & Risk Modelling:

• Develop, enhance and review financial and risk models.
• Perform financial analysis and translate financial information into meaningful model assumptions.
• Assist with credit risk, pricing and regulatory modelling assignments.

Technical Documentation:

• Prepare high-quality technical reports and client-ready documentation.
• Document methodologies, assumptions, model limitations and governance processes.
• Ensure work complies with industry and regulatory standards.

Project Leadership:

• Mentor and support junior consultants.
• Structure project activities and ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines.
• Contribute to project planning and execution.

Business Development:

• Contribute to strategic initiatives.
• Assist with business development and proposal preparation.
• Participate in marketing and firm development activities.
