    Senior Engineer - Railway Track

    Job Description
    We are looking for Permanent Way Design Senior Engineers to support the execution of a large portfolio of local and international railway projects. The Senior Engineers will be senior technical resources and deliver permanent Way Design involvement in projects and ensure effective delivery input of others. They will work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, drawings and reports etc. The role includes design development, design review, supervision, coordination and design documentation. The Senior Engineers will guide junior engineers and independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete design works. The Senior Engineers will be required to coordinate small - mid-size project teams of engineers. Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment as experienced engineers. Provide specialised technical input into studies and design work for their expertise and identify discrepancies in results. Develop design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards. Follow existing or develop design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by self and others. Participate in and create an interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection). They are required to have knowledge of construction costs relating to track design. Gather and correlate engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. Prepare technical specifications. Perform work under agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision, carryout technical coordination with authorities for approvals. Solve problems encountered using knowledge, innovation and modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous works. Contribute to the area of expertise, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and deliver solutions where precedent may not exist. Perform technical quality reviews of design calculations, BIM models and drawings, including documentation in project record by adhering to quality, occupational health and safety and corporate standards. Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort/man-hours for projects. Maintain and develop the highest level of technical skills and abilities. Provide mentoring to junior staff. The Senior Engineers will be expected to build and maintain client relationships. Attend client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc. Participate in the development and preparation of bids and proposals. They must be able to present solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner. They will be required to act as Project Managers on small to medium size projects. Have an excellent understanding of project delivery requirements and become well versed with AECOM’s project delivery procedures.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Demonstrable experience and understanding of railway infrastructure and track.
    • + 8 years' experience
    • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages that may include Bentley RailTrack, Microstation, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Autodesk AutoCAD.
    • Ability to undertake track geometric designs for plain lines and turnouts using appropriate design software packages such as Bentley RailTrack, and Autodesk Civil 3D.
    • Good communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative environment, whilst having a dedicated approach to working within and meeting strict project deadlines.
    • Good communication skills to handle interactions with internal design teams, Clients, and partners.
    • Client focused approach to service delivery.
    • More than eight years of post-qualification experience.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University. Master of Science or Engineering is preferred.
    • Professionally registered as an Engineer with ECSA.
