The Job 

Our Client, based in Cape Town, is at the forefront of Insurtech development in South Africa and is currently seeking to employ a Senior Full Stack Developer to join their team.

This innovative company wants to accelerate the build of both the core platform and start researching a few deeply interesting support systems and tools. These will rely on various types of machine intelligence to turn the complicated chore of purchasing insurance into an effortless task. This role will see you being part of an awesome tech team where you have autonomy and ownership for what you do. You will work as part of a team and will report to the CTO.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience, using Python and related technologies.
• Well-grounded in the use of MVC frameworks especially Django.
• Solid experience with Django, REST Framework and (or) Flask.
• Excellent knowledge of REST.
• Experience with AWS highly beneficial.
• A good understanding of Linux server management and server management in AWS will be a significant advantage.
• Must have knowledge of Postgres and have used it professionally.
• Thorough understanding of the GIT workflow processes, Git Management, ability to handle GitLab, GitHub and work with branches.
• Must have knowledge in using Docker and worked in it professionally.
• Must have previously implemented Celery, Supervisor and RabbitMQ professionally.
• Knowledge in AngularJS or other front end frameworks.
• Knowledge of how to scale a platform on AWS.
• Must write tests before coding.
• Must have familiarity with micro-services.

Daily Duties

• Participation in the daily standup meeting
• Work together with front-end developers who implement the API’s you create.
• Work according to a task schedule set by the project manager, based on prioritised tasks in our issue management system.
• Work on tasks ranging from critical hotfixes to epics spanning weeks of development.
• Participate in creating excellent API and services that support a leading insurance technology platform.
