Senior Fund Administrator at Rand Mutual - RMA

Purpose

Reporting to the Pensions Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of day to day accounting within the Pensions Department including calculations and compiling daily, weekly and monthly financial statements.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Relevant industry degree
• 2 to 3 years as a Senior Fund Accountant
• Pensions Management Institute Qualification is an advantage
• Excellent communication skills
• Numerical skills

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Prepare and present claims and pensions periodical reports to Senior Management
• Management of unpaid pensions refunds and debtors
• Assist with implementation of revised working methods and system enhancements within the Pensions Department
• Prepare the pension fund statement of accounts including monthly reconciliation of payments with the financial ledger
• Responsible for the production and timely submission to the actuary of data for the valuation of the Pension fund and such other matters requiring actuarial advice
• Attend meetings and represent company at all relevant forums
• Ensure pensions PAYE calculations are correct and as per correct tax tables
• Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of Pensions related SARS reports
• Ensure pension annual increases are done accurately per Gazette and RMA Board approval
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of pension records including beneficiary details
• Develop a system of checking accuracy of capitalisation values and child extensions
• Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post
• Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
• Participate in Company Projects in the Pensions Department
• Responsible for liaising with Pensioners, beneficiaries, Commercial banks, Auditors Senior Management, Agents, Attorneys etc
• Responsible for resolving complex or controversial individual pensions claims
• Keeping up to date with amendments to pension legislation and regulations

Ensure compliance

• Ensure compliance with mandatory requirements and all applicable international and bilateral agreements
• Receives comments and updates them with agreements on an on-going basis or on demand
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies required

• Accounting skills including the ability to conduct cash flow analysis, and review transactions for accuracy in reporting
• Computer skills: (proficiency with MS Office applications, spreadsheets proficiency, accounting software/database applications)
• Time Management and prioritization skills to complete work within established timeframes and meet the required deadlines.
• Analytical skills to review large volumes of financial data and calculate specific values
• Problem solving to be able to find missing information required for accounting
• Teamwork and collaboration to support all team members particular during busy month-end periods
